BIG WEEK AT THE ZOO

SOAP

Q&A

Helen Skelton and Nick
Baker are back at the
Yorkshire Wildlife Park
for another week of cute
baby animals and special
celebrity guests.
Each night, the likes of
Strictly pro couple Janette
Manrara and Aljaž Škorjanec
(right), former JLS star JB Gill
and comedian Susan Calman
look after the zoo animals,
including month-old tiger
cubs, a pygmy hippo and
a newborn aardvark.
Meanwhile, the staff try to
encourage two rare Chinese
alligators to breed before
saying goodbye to the park’s
resident lion, who’s off to
start a new life in Tehran.

You know the drill: shameless singles
who should know better decide to
get their kit off on television in an
attempt to find love.
Now in its fifth series,
Naked Attraction has lost
none of its shock value
and continues to leave
us gawping at the
screen, as Anna
Richardson plays
Cupid to lonely lads
and lasses in the buff.
In the opening episode
of the new series, a hot tub
installer from Chesterfield has
returned from travelling the world
and he’s looking for a girl on home
soil. Cue a lot of bare flesh...

GAIN HUNT!’

WORDS: Rebecca Calderwood, Sarah Morton PHOTOS: Getty, Shutterstock

I had a three-month contract as
a guest artist. It’s coming up to my
27th year on the show!
Blimey! And why do you think
it’s still so popular?
It’s good at tackling important
social issues. Also, I think
Summer Bay is such a pretty
place and let’s be
honest, a lot of the
young people aren’t
hard to look at.
Do you keep in
touch with any of
the old stars?
I’m in contact with
Chris [Hemsworth]
through a friend. I
don’t see him often, but
he occasionally comes to the
set. The wonderful thing about
Chris is that he’s just the same as
the last time I saw him. Hollywood
hasn’t gone to his head at all.
Have you ever been tempted to
make it in America yourself?
Never! I’ve got no desire to live
in America and I don’t think I’ve
got the patience to do a movie.
Maybe I could do a light comedy
in England because I love it there.

You’re always welcome! Do
you watch any British TV?
My friend Michelle Hardwick is
on Emmerdale, so I get sucked
into that when I’m over. I do love
Bargain Hunt as well. I’d love
to go on there one day – that’s
my dream!
Where’s the
weirdest place
you have
ever been
recognised?
Once I was
spotted in
Times Square
in New York.
All of a sudden
I heard a group
of women shouting,
“Irene!” You think you’re safe
in America, but you’re not.
Finally, have you ever found
that strangers like to sing the
Home And Away theme tune to
you in the street?
Always! People think it’s hilarious,
but it’s really not!

Home And Away airs weekdays
at 6pm on Channel 5
