Japanese-inspiredgardenfilled

withpondsandflowers.It was

createdtohonourStonyPlain’s

sistercity,Shikaoi,Japan.When

mytwooldestkidswereyounger,

theyusedtogothereandthey

calledit “thebeautifulplace.”In

thesummer,thetownhostsmusic

concertsthereandpeoplebring

theirlawnchairsandblankets.

whenthelilactreesbloom.It only

happensforaboutthreeweeks

andthentheflowersshrivelup.

Butthosedaysaremagical.The

sweet,softaromamixedwiththe

incomingwarmaironsunset

springeveningsaretimesthatI

cherisheveryyear.
