TECHNIQUES l assembly tricks
Making Stitch and Flip units
This technique, also known
as ‘snowballing’, will help you
to create patches that would
otherwise need templates to
make and cut. Characteristically,
you will have squares of fabric
that will be sewn with a larger
square or rectangle, depending
on the design.
1
On the wrong sides of the
smaller squares of fabric,
draw a diagonal line, corner to
corner, with a fine, sharp pencil.
2
Place this on the corner
of the square or rectangle,
aligning the raw edges right
sides together, as shown in
the block you are making.
Machine stitch along the
drawn line.
3
Trim o the corner of both
fabrics leaving a in seam
allowance. Press open.
4
Repeat this on as many
corners as indicated in the
pattern you are making.
