GLASHÜTTE ORIGINAL
SENATOR CHRONOMETER
Glashütte Original has tweaked the look of
its 2019 Senator Chronometer, ten years
after it was first introduced in 2009. The
Swatch Group-owned German watchmaker
has made this year’s model in rose gold
and reduced the size of its bezel to make
more room for its silver-grained dial.
Swiss watches wanting to be certified
as chronometers are typically sent to
COSC for testing but Glashütte Original
has received its chronometer-rating from
its home country equivalent, the German
Calibration Service. Glashütte Original is
one of the rare watchmakers with its own
dial manufacturing facility, and it is put to
good use with the Senator where the fine
grain of the silver-grained lacquer lends
the surface a velvety texture. Its design is
inspired by historic marine chronometers
with the small at 6 o’clock, the running at 12
o’clock and an oversized date at 3 o’clock.
Inside beats Glashütte Original’s Calibre
58-01 manual winding movement, which is
visible through a crystal case back.

HANHART

PRIMUS NAUTIC PILOT BRONZE

Hanhart has unveiled a limited edition Primus Nautic Pilot in a bronze-coated case. Bronze
is fast becoming a mainstream material for watchmakers, with many making the alloy’s
ageing process, which sees it darken over time, as a selling point.
Hanhart has taken the decision to protect the bronze so that it does not change colour, and
is focusing instead on the hardness of its coating, which it says is more scratch-resistant than
steel. “The Primus Nautic Pilot Bronze stands out from the crowd with its distinctive design. Due to
its durability and build quality, it is the perfect companion for all kinds of activities: in the air or on the
water, on the plane or on the yacht, on the beach or in the office,” the company says.
The latest limited edition has a royal blue dial with skeletonised hands. They adopt signature styles
from Hanhart including a fluted bezel with red index point and the red pusher.
The 44mm watch houses an automatic Sellita SW510 chronograph movement. Hanhart is making 300 of
the bronze watch. They are available for pre-order for October delivery at €2,950.

TIMEX
YMC X TIMEX MK1

You may not have heard of YMC,
also known as You Must Create,
but its appeal to the young
and fashion-conscious makes
it another fit for a collaboration
with American watchmaker
Timex. YMC was founded in
London 20 years ago and has
only one store outside the UK,
but it is lending its easy-wearing
design aesthetic to a limited
edition version of Timex’s MK1.
The YMC x Timex MK1 is an
interpretation of a watch issued
to the US Marines in 1982. It has
been re-released since 2016,
often in collaboration with
designers and artists. It comes
in burnt brown rubber 36mm
case, a color described as the
signature seasonal hue for YMC
and retails for £74.

TAG HEUER

CARRERA

TAG Heuer’s racy Carrera collection has
been updated with fresh sunray dials
in black or blue and its three subdials
have been enlarged to make them
more readable. Small splashes of accent
colours are designed to lift the design
including red tips on the central seconds
and subdial hands, the start/stop pusher
and the flange from 12 to 3 o’clock.
The blue dial pieces use orange notes.
Lugs have been shortened to make the
stainless-steel case appear slimmer while
the use of brushed and polished finishes
add interest.
Bezels appear larger and sportier now
a metal ring on its outer edge has been
removed.
The 41mm watches house the
automatic Calibre 16 with a 42 hour
power reserve. They are on sale now
priced at £3,600 on a leather strap and
£3,600 on the steel bracelet.
