RICKMANENTHUSIASTS’DAY
The Rickman factoryproduced frames and bodywork
for the builder to install theirchoice of engine and
the bikes on showfeaturedawide rangeofengines,
including Matchless,Triumph, BSA, Bultaco,Norton,
Ariel, Zundapp,Harley, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki
and Enfield.
Therewas arareexample of the Rickman
development of the parallel twin.Acollaboration
between Rickman andWeslak e, it used an eight-valve
version of theTriumph engine that, of course,was
designed to produce morepower.
Theyare very rare nowbut one Rickman enthusiast
came along withacollection of surviving Rickman/
Weslake parts that will one daypower aMetisse.
The event brought together the community of
Rickman enthusiasts, old friendswere re united, spare
partswere traded,knowledgewas sharedby the
Rickmanexperts and newfrien ds were made.
The event raised £1000 that will be donated to
Don and Derek’schosencharities, the HampshireAir
Ambulance and OakhavenHospice.
Sammyset upatrackat the front of the courtyard
to themuseum and demonstration runs pleased the
crowds throughout the day. Hearing the sounds and
watching the skilled riders in action added to the
excitement of theevent.
