31st Annual B-17 Gathering and Big Bird

Fly-In and B. B. Weber Memorial Meet at

our home club field, Bomber Field

(bomberfieldusa.com).

Many great activities are already confirmed

for the big event. Once again, the radio-

controlled big birds and bombers are mi-

grating south to Bomber Field for the 31st

anniversary airshow at Monaville, Texas.

All Big Bird aircraft are welcome to partici-

pate, including turbine aircraft.

As is customary, only B-17s will compete for

the Perpetual B-17 Trophy.

Bomber Field is the dream come true of our

late founder, Mr. B. B. Weber, who designed

and developed the facility we enjoy today.

This year, we gather as friends and fellow

aviation enthusiasts to celebrate the legacy

he built and to remember and honor him

though the 31st Anniversary Meet.

Make plans now to join us in September

for fun, flying, fellowship, and celebration!

Here’s some of what’s in store:

• A special national anthem, featuring a
  skydiver (weather permitting).


• Full-scale bomber/warbird flyover (weather
  permitting).


• B-17 rides available for purchase; B-17s will
  be staging 20 minutes away at local airport


• Full-scale WW II flyovers from 12:00 p.m. to
  1:00 p.m.


• Pyrotechnics airshow warbird gaggle


• Full-scale WW II military vehicle display


• Texas Armor Association conducting RC
  WW II tank battles on a 6,000-square-foot
  1/16-scale battlefield


• Allied and Axis tanks battling over control of
  the scale town, airfield, and factory

All pilots who fly are eligible

for trophies in the following

categories:

• B-17 Perpetual Trophy


• Best Civilian


• Best Military Pre-


• Best Military Post-


• Best Jet


• Best Multi-Engine


• Best of Show

Pilot’s fee:$30.

General admission:$5/person (includes

parking)

Children 12 and under admitted FREE.

Raffle tickets to be sold.Grand Prize:

with Robart landing gear and scale

wheels. (Need not be present to win.)

Awards and raffle drawing at 5:00 p.m.

on Saturday.

All AMA rules will apply. AMA member-

ship required of all pilots; documenta-

tion not required. Wheelchair-accessible

viewing areas and Porta Potties. Conces-

sions on site. RVs and campers welcome

(limited electronic hookups).
