Grumman F9F Cougar

Built from an Airworld kit, Jorge’s

1/5-scale 95-inch-long Cougar is

powered by a JetCat P160 turbine

engine. With an 85-inch span, the jet is

95 inches long and weighs 45 pounds.

Jorge used a Futaba 18MZ radio and

earned a fi nal score of 120.683 points.

PRO-AM SPORT JET CLASS

Pilots in this class, must have already placed

(twice!) in the top three spots of an AMA

competition or in the top 30 percent of a Top Gun

field. Each pilot is awarded 25 static points for

showing scale documentation;

this is added to the average

of the best three (out of

four) flight rounds for

the total score. This

year, there were seven

pilots entered in the class.

3rd//Marvin Mauricio Alvarez//L-39

Th is 1/5-scale BVM jet has an 74-inch span,

is 94 inches long, and weighs 37 pounds. Th e

L-39 is powered by a F-16 (160-size) turbine

engine. Martin used a Jeti radio system and

earned a fi nal score of 120.200 points.

2nd//Henry Castellanos//Viper Jet

Th is 1/2.5-scale Skymaster Viper Jet XXL has a

wingspan of 140 inches and is 133 inches long.

Powered by a AeroDesignWorks BF 300 turbine

engine, it weighs 68 pounds. Henry earned a total

score of 120.383 points.
