YOUNG Brits may be getting all the

attention over their sordid antics in

holiday hotspots, but older revellers

are also causing chaos with wild

drink, drugs and sex sessions.

A Mirror investigation in Benidorm

found tourists aged from their 30s to

their 60s reliving their heady 18-30s days

from the 70s and 80s as they enjoy

raunchy cabarets and all-night boozing.

One gran even boasted about how she

smuggled cocaine into the Costa Blanca

resort inside a sinus inhaler, while

wearing a “Coke Whore” T-shirt.

The dinner lady, who is in her 50s and

from Yorkshire, said: “It’s easy, no one

thinks to check the tube in the inhaler

amongst all my pills, although the drugs

are cheap enough here to be fair.”

Cocaine, ecstasy and

marijuana were all on

offer throughout the day

and it was not unusual

to be offered drugs while

out for lunch or taking a

stroll along the sea front.

Prostitutes also operate

in the shadows.

Our reporters watched

as OAPs played bingo

during the day, getting

around on their mobility

scooters and then

partied into the night on

the notorious English Square alongside

stag and hen dos. Benidorm has 2,

full time UK residents – 11% of its

population. One, Betty Thirl-

wall, 66, told us: “You have

everything you could want

here, sun, sea and booze.

Why would you ever leave,

people love it.”

Hordes of Brits flock to

the party town each year.

Not all of them are here

for the booze, sex and drugs,

it is also a popular place

with families. In the 80s it

was known for its drunken

yobbery when groups of

youngsters arrived on 18-30s

holidays. Since ITV comedy

Benidorm, it has become

synonymous with elderly

Brits chilling round the side of a pool.

But in reality a seedy underbelly still

exists with drugs, free sex shows and

prostitution available.

There are a wide variety of cabarets to

choose from and popular bars such as

Chaplin’s and the raucous The Red Lion

pack in the punters into the early hours.
