selection of
stick on number plates
for the purchaser to choose
from and stick onto the blank
front and rear number plate
areas on the model.
Most of the diecast Anglia
saloon models (there were a
few exceptions) that were
produced feature the front
door windows half open, but
all of the resin prototypes
feature the front windows
fully wound up.

Lledo Vanguards resin
prototype for VA1001
Lot 107 featured two VA1001
prototypes, both of which are
painted in an all-over green
shade. Both also feature a
grey interior, but one has a
black steering wheel, while the
other has a grey one. (The final
production model featured a

black one). The green
wheels are finished off
with silver hubcaps and both
models carry the registration
number 615 JOB. Spookily, this
was not one of the registra-
tion numbers supplied for the
purchaser to fit. Unfortunately,
one of these prototypes has lost
one of its wing mirrors and its
front number plate, but I am
still pleased to own it.

prototype for VA1002
The next model up has a white
body with a maroon roof and
stripe along both sides. This
decoration is for a Ford Anglia
Super, which in real life had
a 1200cc engine compared
to the 997cc fitted to the base
and deluxe models. My model
features a maroon interior with
a black steering wheel. Cream
wheels are enhanced with
silver hubcaps and the model

carries the registration number

carries the registration TGJ 337.
Once again, this was not one of
the numbers supplied with the
production models. The
underside of this prototype
has a sticker with the model
number VA1002 written on it.

Lledo Vanguards resin
prototype for VA1003A
The production model that
resulted from this prototype
was issued as part of the
Broadspeed Racing Anglia’s set.
The real life maroon and silver
Ford Anglia was driven by
John Fitzpatrick for Team
Broadspeed in the British
Saloon Car Championship

(the equivalent of today’s
British Touring Car Champion-
ship), which lead to him
becoming champion in 1966.
The prototype features a black
interior and minilite wheels.
There are racing number
stickers on the front doors and
bonnet. ‘Team Broadspeed’
features on the front wings,
with Ford stripes along the
bottom between the wheel
arches, and John Fitzpatrick’s
name appears on the roof
just above each front door.
The prototype doesn’t include
any bumpers, wing mirrors
or registration plates but is
otherwise pretty much how the
final production model looked.
