For 15 seasons, Grey’s Anatomy has captivated

audiences with its heart-pounding storylines. But

Ellen Pompeo (a.k.a. Meredith Grey) recently

hinted that the hit show’s real drama went down

once the cameras stopped rolling. “The first 10

years we had serious culture issues, very bad

behavior [and a] really toxic work environment,”

the actress, 49, explained. “On the outside, we

were a massive success, but there was all of this

tumult on the inside: It was a lot of rivalry, a lot of

competition. It starts with actors behaving badly,

and then producers enabling them to behave

badly.” But following season 10, “we had some

big shifts in front of the camera, behind the

camera,” she noted, and “it became my goal to

have an experience there that I could be happy

and proud about.”
