Sew together pieces in rows; join rows to
make sky section. The section should be
351 ∕ 2 × 601 ∕ 2 " including seam allowances.
ASSEMBLE TREES SECTION
1 ) Use a pencil to mark a diagonal line on
wrong side of remaining solid dark teal 3"
squares and six solid dark teal 1^3 ∕ 4 " squares.
2 ) Align a marked solid dark teal 3" square
with top edge of a solid white 3× 41 ∕ 4 "
rectangle (Diagram 6; note direction
of drawn line). Sew on drawn line; trim
excess fabric, leaving^1 ∕ 4 " seam allowance.
Press open attached triangle. Repeat with
bottom edge to make Unit C (Diagram 7).
The unit should be 3× 41 ∕ 4 " including seam
allowances. Repeat to make 21 C units total.
3 ) Repeat Step 2 with drawn lines rotated
in the opposite direction to make
21 D units, which are mirror images
of C units (Diagram 8).
4 ) Repeat Assemble Sky Section, steps 1 and 2,
using solid white and solid teal 3^3 ∕ 8 " squares
to make six triangle-squares. The triangle-
squares should be 3" square including
seam allowances.
5 ) Align a marked solid dark teal 1^3 ∕ 4 " square
with bottom right-hand corner of a
Step 4 triangle-square (Diagram 9; note
rotation of triangle-square). Sew on drawn
line; trim excess fabric, leaving^1 ∕ 4 " seam
allowance. Press open attached triangle to
make Unit E. The unit should be 3" square
including seam allowances. Repeat to make
three E units total.
6 ) In a similar manner to Step 5, align a
marked solid dark teal 1^3 ∕ 4 " square with
bottom left-hand corner of a Step 4
triangle-square; sew and trim as before
to make Unit F, which is a mirror image of
Unit E (Diagram 10). Repeat to make three
F units total.
7 ) Sew solid dark teal 1^3 ∕ 4 " squares to short
edges of a solid white 1^3 ∕ 4 ×3" rectangle
to make Unit G (Diagram 11). The
unit should be 1^3 ∕ 4 × 51 ∕ 2 " including seam
allowances. Repeat to make three G
units total.
