Reminders

Step-by-step Tag a contact in a reminder

1

Select a category
Using iOS 13, start by opening the
Reminders app and, on the main page, select
one of the categories – Today, Scheduled, All
or Flagged – or else choose one of your lists.

2

Create a reminder
Now tap ‘New Reminder’ which you’ll
find located at the bottom of the screen. This
will let you write something you need to recall
about a contact when you’re next in touch.

3

Select information
After you have written the reminder, you
can tap the ‘i’ icon which appears to the right
of the input line. This will show a list of details
that you can add to the reminder.

By tagging people in Reminders, prompts will
be sent when you next contact them

S

cientists reckon that the human brain can hold as
much as 2.5 petrabytes of information but we still
end up forgetting people’s birthdays and other
such vital details. It’s why many iPhone users make good
use of the Reminders app which, as of iOS 13, can now
go a little further and prod your memory about a particular
task relating to one particular person when you next get
in touch – it’s a great addition for the more absent-minded
amongst us.
Indeed, by tagging a specific person in the reminders
that you create within the app, a notification can be sent
in Messages when you write to that particular contact
either via an iMessage or SMS. This would be great if you
suddenly remember that you need to mention something
to a friend in the dead of night, for instance, giving you
a prompt when you’re able to make contact at a more
reasonable hour.
