HOW TO REPLACE
A 32–BIT PRINTER
DRIVER FOR 10.15?
Check if the printer supports
AirPrint. If it does, remove it
before upgrading to Catalina
and add it back using the
built–in AirPrint driver once
10.15 is up and running.
If not, and its vendor
doesn’t offer a 64–bit driver,
you won’t be able to use it
after upgrading.

HOW TO SCROLL
DOWN WHEN TAKING
A SCREENSHOT?
You can’t scroll a window to
include more in the image
while taking a screenshot.
Take multiple screenshots of
just that window using
Cmd+Shift+4, press the
Space bar, then click on
the correct window. Cut
those out and paste them
together in an image editor
to produce a composite.

This is because the permissions in your Home
folder have become altered somehow, usually
when an app makes an error. This means that
you have lost control as the owner of some of
the folders and files within it. When this
extends to the Library folder within your
Home folder, it can start affecting important
applications too. Apple describes some of the
symptoms in bit.ly/ml164hmprm, and there
are details of a method you can use to fix it.
The official procedure to reset those
permissions starts with you selecting your
Home folder in a Finder window, then opening
its Get Info window using that command in
the Finder’s File menu. In the Sharing &

Permissions section in that dialog, open the
padlock if necessary by clicking on it and
entering your password. Change the Privilege
for the top item, which should name you as
the owner of the folder, to Read & Write, and
leave the group and everyone’s settings at
Read only. Open the gear icon menu and pick
the command to Apply to enclosed items.
It takes time for this to propagate through
the files and folders in your Home folder, and
when it’s complete you may find that alone
has fixed your problems. If symptoms remain,
then follow Apple’s instructions to use the
diskutil command, or use the free aid Repair
HomePermissions from bit.ly/ml164keyprm.

> Having to keep entering your password
My Mac repeatedly asks for my permission and password to do the simplest things in my
Home folder, like moving a file from Documents to the Desktop. How can I stop that?

Apple has a way to reset Home folder permissions which RepairHomePermissions shows you without Terminal.
