A new view

Notes has a new gallery view in macOS

Catalina that’s a more visual way to see what

you’ve got. Just click on the four squares next

to the List icon. You’ll see badges on pinned and

shared notes so you can easily identify them.

Check options smarter

In Notes > Preferences, you can

automatically move checked items to the

bottom of a list by selecting “Automatically

sort ticked items”. This will reorder your tasks

and lists as you check them off.

APPLE HAS GREATLY

improved the Notes app so

that it’s now a real contender

against some of the paid–for

third-party options.

A particularly useful improvement is

that the search tool not only picks out

certain words from scans and documents,

it can now recognize objects within

images too.

Apple has also brought suggestions to

search: it oļers suggestions as you type,

making it quicker than ever to dig through

your data and Ľnd what you need.

You now have the ability to share entire

folders of notes, too. Depending on the

permissions you set, collaborators can

then add their own notes or attachments

— and make edits — giving the app far

greater functionality than before.

Finally, new checklist options enable

you to move and sort items manually,

so you can more easily prioritize
