How many other clubs would attract an attendance of 52,399 for an FA Cup replay against
League One club on a Tuesday night when the manager has made it clear that he, and his
entire first-team squad, will be on a winter break? Very few, if any at all.
Yes, there were almost 8,000 Shrewsbury Town fans in the Annie Road end, but that still
means around 45,000 Reds paid to see the youngest-ever team in Liverpool FC history, and

3. NECO WILLIAMS
Four first-team games, three assists. And
against Shrewsbury Town the 18-year-old
right-back played like a senior player who
had been thrown in with the kids.
Neco Williams was man-of-the-match
and not only did he create the winning
goal, when Ro-Shaun Williams headed
his cross over stranded goalkeeper Max
O’Leary, he should really have got on the
scoresheet himself. Williams had three
goalscoring opportunities and while he
missed a couple and O’Leary saved another
efort with his feet, the way he got into
goalscoring positions from full-back was
reminiscent of a young Stevie Nicol.
