Liverpool FC - UK (2020-03)

(Antfer) #1

  1. HARVEY ELLIOTT
Is he really only 16 years old? Signed from
Fulham in the summer, the Londoner now has
seven irst-team appearances to his name and
celebrated the winning goal against the Shrews
like he’d scored it himself. Which he would have
done had Ro-Shaun Williams not got to Neco
Williams’ cross irst and headed it into his own net.
Elliott’s pace bothered Shrewsbury all night, his
strength on the ball belies his young age and he’s got
all kinds of skills in his locker. Shrewsbury aren’t the
first side to struggle to handle Elliott at Anfield, and
    they won’t be the last...

  2. PEDRO’S COMEBACK
If you want an example of how perseverance
can pay of then look no further than Pedro
Chirivella. The Spanish midielder made ive
appearances for Liverpool in 2015/16 but wasn’t
involved again with the irst-team for three
    seasons.
During that time he had loan spells in Holland
with Go Ahead Eagles and Willem II, before a
nightmare return to Spain for six months in 2019
when he joined Extremedura for six months
but couldn’t play after the Spanish club failed
to complete his registration on time before the
    transfer window closed.
Chirivella’s future seemed uncertain, but he
has re-emerged at Liverpool in season 2019/20,
making six appearances and has been an ever-
present in the FA Cup with particularly impressive
displays against Everton and Shrewsbury at
Anfield. The central midfielder has certainly given
Jürgen Klopp something to think about when he
picks his team for the next round at Chelsea.
