Customise your Finder toolbar

How to set up your windows, your way...

Display items
The sidebar in your Finder windows is a
great way to access important folders
quickly. If you go to Finder>Preferences>
Sidebar, you’ll be able to tick which options
you want displayed, having as many or
as few as you want displayed. Certainly
having the ‘iCloud Drive’ option ticked is a
good start.

Customise the toolbar
To start customising the toolbar of your
Finder windows, hold Alt/Option and
click on the toolbar and then select the
‘Customise Toolbar’ option from the
contextual menu.

View options
You can view your tools as icons, text,
or both. Click on this menu and select
one of the options. If you are new to
Mac then we would suggest the ‘Icon
and Text’ option.

Drag and drop
You can add new functions to your
toolbar by dragging them from the
browser up into the toolbar at the top of
the window. You can also drag existing
ones to change the layout.

Revert to defaults
A default set of tools exists permanently
at the bottom of the browser. To replace
your custom set with the originals,
simply drag this setup to the toolbar.
