Adjust the
columns
If you set your Finder windows
to column view and the columns
are too narrow to view the full file
names, double-click on the two
small vertical lines at the bottom
of the first divider. Or hold Alt/
Option and drag to adjust the
width of every column at once.4
Quick Library access
If you need to access your Library folder quickly, then the
most effective way of doing so is to hold down the Alt/Option
key and then click on the ‘Go’ menu bar item in Finder. The
‘Library’ folder will now be present, which it isn’t normally.
Click to select it.6
Bigger QuickView
If youclickona fileandthenpressthespacebar,thefile
willbedisplayedin QuickViewmode,allowingyouto preview
thecontent.If youholddowntheAlt/Optionkeywhilepressing
spacebarthenQuickViewwillopenin full-screenmode,which
is rathercool!10
Merge all windows
If your desktop is full of open windows you can merge
them as tabs in one open window. Just click on Window>
Merge All Windows and you’ll be able to access each folder by
clicking on their respective tabs at the top of the window.5
Batch
rename files
If you’ve got a bunch of files
to rename then select them all
and Ctrl+click on them. From
the menu, select the ‘Rename
X items’ option and then you’ll
be able to replace the names
with whatever text you want
before clicking ‘Rename’ to
complete the process.8
Search
thoroughly
If you can’t find a file within a
certain folder go to Finder>
Preferences> Advanced
and click on the menu under
‘When performing a search:’.
Choose ‘Search current
folder’ and any Spotlight
searches should throw up
more specific results.To see how many items populate a folder as well as current storage space,
go to View>Show Status Bar and the info is at the bottom of a window.
