A PIECE OF HISTORY
From the 1st April, you can get your crafty hands on this
stunning Beginner's Guide to Blackwork – a reissued book
to commemorate 50 years of Search Press. Lesley Wilkins
discovered blackwork
samplers on a school trip
to London's Victoria and
Albert Museum aged just
ten, and has been hooked
ever since. Her stunning
designs – from individual
motifs to fill patterns
and borders – are sure to
inspire you in turn. This
beautiful book costs £9.99.

A YEAR OF FUN
Creative Poppy has launched a brand new
Birds & Blackwork Flowers Stitch A Long – and
it's a beauty! This SAL is designed by Cross
Stitch Gold favourite, Lesley Teare, and will last
the whole of 2020. You'll have to be patient if
you want to complete the whole design, but
here are the first two parts to get you started
- we love the contrast between the brightly
coloured birds and the delicate blackwork
blooms. Pay £13.60 to sign up for the SAL
and receive 12 parts in total.

Parisian charm
If you're looking for a spring stitching challenge, this
could be the kit for you – delicate yet intricate lettering,
decorated with fresh flower sprigs and a little blue bird, then finished
as a pretty cushion. There are a whopping 46 shades of thread in this
piece, so it's trickier than it might first look. Luckily, the kit comes with
large-scale black and white charts printed on four A3 sheets, so that
you can really see the detail. The design size is 61x20cm (24x7¾in)
on 25-count Lugana, while the finished cushion size is 80x40cm
(31½x15¾in). You even get some dark grey-blue backing fabric and a
zip included in this Paris kit (PB204), which costs £34.

stitchy shopping lists, plan
your next projects and get
creative – there's plenty of space for all your brilliant
