HAIL THE KING
Eric Cantona plays tragic king in Liam Gallagher’s ‘’Once’’
music video as they put football rivalry aside. Eric Cantona
is a Manchester United legend, while Gallagher is an
ardent Manchester City supporter. In the clip, Eric (who
was known as King Eric in his football heyday) plays a
somewhat morose king wandering through an empty
mansion in a red silk kimono.
QUARANTINE TIME
Manchester United's latest signing, Odion Ighalo, had been
forced to train away from the club's other players amid
fears he may have the coronavirus. The former Chinese
Super League striker has also been omitted from United's
winter training camp in Spain. Ighalo joined United on loan
from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua at the end of January.
CALL ME ...
Former Arsenal midfielder Santi
Cazorla has revealed that he still
receives phone calls from his old
side about potential transfers for the
North Londoners. The Gunners have
been linked with Cazorla's Villarreal
team-mates Pau Torres and Samuel
Chukwueze in recent months.
NOW WE’RE TALKING
A Wolves fan has been banned from attending matches
for four years after being found guilty of making a monkey
gesture towards Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham. Dudley
resident Josef Smith, 40, was also found to have spat at
rival fans during the Premier League clubs' meeting at
Molineux in September. A fine of £1,450 was also handed
out to the supporter idiot.
IT WENT VIRAL
Dele Alli has apologized for a video posted on his
Snapchat account in which the Tottenham and England
midfielder appeared to mock an Asian man and joke about
the coronavirus outbreak. Alli, who has been on holiday
during his club’s winter break, posted the video of him
wearing a face mask in an airport departure lounge with
the message: ‘’Corona whattt, please listen with volume.’’
The 23-year-old then zooms the camera towards an
unsuspecting man of Asian appearance before panning
to a bottle of antiseptic hand wash captioned: ‘’This virus
gunna have to be quicker than that to catch me.’’ The
video was subsequently deleted after several complaints
were made, with Alli issuing a statement in which he
admitted he had let himself down and the club.

RUBBISH = GARBAGE
Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has opened up about
the time Jose Mourinho called him "rubbish" after a
particularly poor performance a few years ago. Mourinho
brought a 19-year-old Zouma to Stamford Bridge
from Saint-Etienne in 2014 and was no stranger to the
manager's confrontational ways. Still finding his feet at
senior level, the young defender admits he was shocked
when Mourinho took him aside one day and didn't hold
back his criticism. Zouma revealed that the day after
a loss, Mourinho caught up with him and asked him
multiple times if he was ok “because you were rubbish this
weekend.”
AROUND ENGLAND
“For me, I think he's the leading
candidate [for player of the year]. At
times this season when we've struggled
Hendo has been the one that has driven
us forward. He's the one who has made
sure we don't get slack, or he has
chipped in with some really important
goals or really important assists” –
Liverpool fullback Andy Robertson
believes that Liverpool captain Jordan
Henderson is the ‘leading candidate’ to
win this season's Premier League Player of
the Year award.
“But for me, seriously, only Van Dijk
would get into that team. When you look
at that Manchester United team, that is
leadership throughout the whole team,
and leadership was the key. Liverpool are
developing that now.” – Virgil van Dijk is
the only Liverpool player who would force
his way into Manchester United's 1999
treble-winning side, according to ex-Red
Devils assistant coach Steve McClaren.
“You can see it because Mikel’s drive
is different. I haven’t seen a manager
with that much determination to make
individuals into better players. I have
all my belief in Mikel and I think he is
going to make me into a top player.” –
Arsenal academy graduate Reiss Nelson
is pleased to be working under Arsenal
boss Mikel Arteta, who knows all about his
potential and how best to unlock it.
