WEDDING PLANS
Werder Bremen striker Dave Selke
and his partner Evelyn are on the
hunt for a wedding destination.
Evelyn announced on Instagram
recently that they are looking for
the perfect venue on the party
island of Ibiza. On Christmas
Eve, Werder striker Davie Selke
surprised his girlfriend Evelyn
while on vacation in Dubai with
a marriage proposal. After the
season, the two initially want to
get married in their home town
of Stuttgart. A big celebration will
follow later - possibly in Ibiza.

MULLER BACK?
Thomas Muller is not thinking
of making a Germany national
team return and wants to
solely concentrate on his
Bayern Munich career. The
30-year-old fell out of favor
in the national with Die
Mannschaft boss Joachim
Low and remained out of the
international scene since the
2018 World Cup. However, with
injuries to the likes of Leroy
Sane and Serge Gnabry, Muller
might get an opportunity to
extend his international career.

A NICE PENSION
Bild reports Friedhelm Funkel, who has been sacked by Fortuna Dusseldorf, could benefit
from a possible triumph of Dusseldorf in the DFB Cup. Since he was only on leave as a coach,
he would be entitled to a considerable title bonus in this case. If that actually happens, the
66-year-old would pocket €100,000 in bonus money.

PUT A SOCK IN IT
Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has been branded
the “Greta Thunberg of German football” by club legend
Mehmet Scholl, who made the remark in unfavorable
terms. The former midfielder, who spent 15 years at the
club, feels that the 24-year-old is allowed to speak his mind
too freely and has too much influence in FCB due to his
young age, notably criticizing a lack of depth in the squad
in January.

SAPPY DEAL
Hoffenheim have agreed an
extension to their deal with shirt sponsor SAP that sees the software
company’s contract now run through 2025. The Bundesliga club’s
principal partnership, which includes primary physical and digital
assets, is worth €4.5 million a year according to German sports
business outlet Sponsors.de. Another facet of the tie-up sees SAP’s
Interactive Data Space analysis platform utilized by Hoffenheim,
along with access to other products manufactured by the firm.

HIDE THE

KNIVES
Werder Bremen and
Bayern Munich cult hero
Mario Basler competed
against celebrity chef
Frank Rosin in famous
reality TV show Schlag
Den Star. However,
Basler didn’t take it
lightly when he was
defeated by Rosin and
accused him of cheating.
The spectators of the
show saw the former
German international go
into total meltdown on
live television. However,
many viewers did agree
that Basler’s accusations
were true indeed.

MEN UNITED
On 6 February 1958, 23 people died
in a plane crash in Munich, including
eight players from English record champions Manchester
United. A commemoration ceremony was held to mark
the 62nd anniversary of the disaster. FC Bayern München
AG chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge laid the foundation
stone for a commemorative display case at the crash site in
Trudering in the presence of club president Herbert Hainer
and honorary president Uli Hoeness, together with Munich
City Councilor Christian Vorlander and representatives of
the Manchester Munich Memorial Foundation.

IN THE TEAM...NOT
It was already a special day for Leon
Dajaku and Oliver Batista Meier.
The youngsters were named in
Bayern Munich’s DFB Cup squad for
the Hoffenheim clash and had the
opportunity to share the dressing
room with first team stars. Even
though none of them got to get
involved in the game, they did have
a post-game experience they will
never forget. As the duo walked
out of the Allianz Arena, they found
the team bus had left without them
leaving them to take taxi’s home.

CALLING ALL BEER

SHERPAS
What is essential in a German
football stadium? Mood? Player?
Chants? Yes, all that is important
but, what makes the experience
truly German? Beer! The drink
is a must-have for German fans
to enjoy their football properly.
But there is a problem across
Bundesliga stadiums: someone
is in charge of getting the beers.
The big disadvantage for the
beer carrier is that he always
runs the risk of missing a goal. A
group of Borussia Dortmund fans
have come up with a solution.
They are offering free tickets to
anyone willing to serve as a ‘’beer
Sherpa.’’ A beer Sherpa will visit
the beer stands 4/5 times a game
to get beers for everyone, in exchange he will get to experience the world-
famous atmosphere of Signal Iduna Park for free.

MANUEL SWEEPER UPPER
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that their former
manager Pep Guardiola was so impressed with Manuel Neuer’s footwork
and distribution skills, he wanted him to be deployed as a midfielder.
Neuer popularized the “sweeper-keeper” trend in modern football during
Guardiola’s Bayern Munich stint with his great positioning senses and nifty
foot skills.

NEVER SAY

NEVER
Eintracht Frankfurt
fans never managed
to forgive Andy Moller
for leaving the club as
a player. So, it was not
much of a surprise to see
a large section of the fans
protesting the 52-year-
old’s appointment as the
club’s head of academy.
Now Moller wants to sit
with the protesters and
strike truce once and for
all. He urged the fans
to listen to his side of
the story and exercise
rationality.

AGENT SWITCH
Kingsley Coman has decided to switch. The Frenchman does not leave
FC Bayern, but has decided to switch his agent. Speculating rumours that
he may be on the move to England. The 23-year-old is now represented
by Aidy Ward and British based agency Colossal Sports Management,
who represent Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) and Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain. Let the mind games begin!
