Inspiring homes
have turned their first home into a work of art with lots of budget buys, upcycling and homemade projects
My house
Welcome
to my home
on a budget
‘This kitchen
is perfect for
entertaining’
Chloe brought the kitchen up-to-date by painting the island and
walls to give the room a fresh look. ‘The original kitchen was
fairly new when we moved in and we didn’t have the budget, so
we just made a few key updates. I love the open-plan feel as it
really works for us as a family and it’s perfect for entertaining’
A bit about me
I’m Chloe Medway, a
stay at home mum and
part-time weaver. I live
with my husband Paul,
our son Conrad and
lovely cat Pancake.
Where I live
Our home is a three-
bedroom end terrace
1930s house in
Witham, Essex. We
moved here in 2014.
What I wanted
to change
All the magnolia – it
was everywhere! The
house was very beige
and brown. It had
very little personality
other than the cast
iron fireplaces in the
bedrooms. We wanted
to add our stamp.
How I made
it my own
Firstly, we painted
nearly everywhere an
off-white or light grey
to make it feel light,
airy and fresh. Then
slowly we redecorated.
My favourite part
My accessories. I tend
to use the objects we
find from our travels.
Style idea
Deep green
looks great with
wooden worktops
