Greater Sand Plover
Binomial Name: Charadrius leschenaultii
The Greater Sand Plover is primarily a shorebird. Common migratory birds of Bangladesh Theoriginal habitat is the semi-desert region of eastern Central Asia. In winter, it roams in the
country's coastal lagoons, mudflats, and estuaries of the Barisal, Chittagong, and Khulnadivisions. They are gregarious birds and usually live in mixed flocks with other waterfowl. It
walks along the water's edge, runs, and eats by inserting its lips into the soft mud. The foodlist includes insects, shrimp, and snails. During the breeding season in April-May, they lay eggs
by scratching the soil covered with plants in their original habitat.
