Lesser Sand Plover
Binomial Name: Charadrius mongolus
The Lesser Sand Plover is a common migratory bird in Bangladesh. It roams all over thecountry's lakes, swamps, sands, beaches, and coasts in winter. They wander in mixed
flocks with other waterfowl. They glean the prey from the moist surface or probe the wetground for prey. They mostly use the typical run-stop-peck method of feeding. They lay
their eggs on the coast of northeastern Siberia or in the plains of Alaska during the breedingseason of May-June, digging in the ground near bushes or rocks and making nests of
ferns and lichens.
