Pied Kingfisher
Binomial Name: Ceryle rudis
This black-and-white Kingfisher is known by different names in different parts ofBangladesh for his varied behavior. The Pied Kingfisher is a common resident bird of
Bangladesh. Freshwater can be found in all divisions' rivers, canals, ponds, reservoirs,sewers, tidal creeks, and ponds. Usually, they are in pairs. Before catching the prey, it
settles in one place in the air and flaps its wings, and from there, it suddenly jumps intothe water and brings the prey to its beak. The food list includes fish, tadpoles, and aquatic
insects. The Pied Kingfisher has no particular breeding season. They can breed throughout
the year but vary from region to region.
