trailers. It has also never stood still in
terms of development to make the
trailers the best they can be for livestock.
For example, in 1993 it developed an
automatic drinking system for the
animals and in 1996 its forced
ventilation system came onto the
market. Three years later it devised a
bespoke trailer for transporting piglets.
In 2017 it started to offer its SBA63
low-loader trailer for piglet transport in
the North American market, along with a
prototype trailer for Egypt.
2007 was a busy year with the
introduction of the company’s
independent lifting decks system and
also a new temperature control system
with GPS monitoring, while two years
later a heated drinking water system
was made available.
Steering axles are also offered on its
trailers, and it also has a four-axle
semi-trailer with electric-hydraulic
steering for markets which allow them.
Pezzaioli also builds other trailers – in
1995 it started to offer curtainsided
trailers for general haulage, and it has
even offered a Combitrailer for
combined transport of animals and
Europallets, which was offered from

Bodies for livestock
Pezzaioli produces strong vehicles,
adaptable to all weather conditions. The
vehicles are built to a high specification,
with a light structure entirely made in
aluminium of Italian production. The
manufacturing process used through the
years also allows Pezzaioli to keep the
cost of its vehicles as low as possible.

The vehicles retain good residual
values as well, and they are soughtafter
in the second-hand market. They are
fully operational under all
environmental conditions, even in
countries with harsh climates such as
Russia, or as hot as southern Europe.
The product range includes straight-
frame semi-trailers of the SBA62, SBA63,
SBA63 pig transporter, and the SBA63-
TD. There’s the SBA range of swan-neck
semi-trailers, which includes SR models
with five floors. It also offers a number
of specialised vehicles, including the
SBA23Z for duck transport.

UK sales doing well
Pezzaioli has been selling in the UK and
Republic of Ireland for a few years now
and typically sells abut 40-50 units a
year – the majority being tri-axle trailers,
although some bodies for drawbars have
also been sold in the UK.
It has a dealership through S&B
Commercials, which is based in Market

Weighton in East Yorkshire – so in close
proximity of well-known livestock
haulier, Grasby’s of Hull.
Livestock transport is a stressful
market for both drivers and hauliers,
and there is probably more legislation
than any other type of haulage in order
to keep the welfare of the animals at the
heart of proceedings – and rightly so.
Therefore, having a trailer that’s robust
and reliable is of paramount importance,
and will give the driver and operator
added peace of mind.
The bottom line: If you have to take
your little piggies to market, you might
as well do it in style. ■
