52 > NZ HOT ROD AUGUST 2019
purchased on one of Bert’s regular trips to the US.....
he has a daughter and grandkids on the East Coast.
The paint is two-pack polyurethane applied by Robbie
Sissons in Tauranga. As a contrast, the wheels are
painted a plum colour with hand painted pinstriping.
The leather interior seat and door panels match the
exterior colour with the inclusion of plum piping.
European style carpet also featured the same colour
piping and was expertly trimmed by Ian Handley at
Ist Ave Auto Trim, Tauranga. The trunk is as tidy as
the interior and also houses a full-size spare wheel.
Final assembly is the fun part, and Bert has
concentrated on the small details such as using
original style old Ford hose clamps, P700 headlight
units and keeping all the detail “old school”.
Bert’s first outing was Deuce Days where he was
awarded the prestigious Rodders Choice.
