Not many people can say they’ve been given a standing ovation by
Simon Cowell. But Melbourne’s Dom Chambers (pictured) achieved
just that with his appearing beer trick on America’s Got Talent.
“It was a nice little victory,” he tells Foxtel magazine. “It wasn’t
the goal, but to be able to say that I won over a real sceptic
like Simon Cowell is quite a cool feat, I think.”
Despite his great showmanship, Chambers admits he’s
never felt as nervous as he did stepping onto the AGT stage.
“When I walked out there and saw, like, 4000 people, four
judges and all the cameras, it really did get to me,” he reveals.
As for what we can expect from his next act: “You have to
come back with something bigger and better. So I’m actually doing
something almost completely different, just changing the angle
a little bit. But there may be a few drinks involved still.”

EXPRESS at 8.30pm on FOX8 [108].

THE BUSINESS OF SPORT
continues Saturdays at 11am on
Sky News [103/600] part of
the ENTERTAINMENT pack
These days, sport is such
a big business; it’s no longer
just about the result. It’s a huge
industry and I think we’re seeing that
with sponsorships, endorsements.
Obviously, with women’s sport,
we’re seeing that as well at the elite
level. There’s still a long way to go –
a very long way to go – but women’s
elite sport is certainly on the rise.
Ash Barty is absolutely killing it.
She’s world number one [in tennis]
and she’s only 23. I find that terrifying
but amazing! You have Steph Gilmore,
who’s number one in surfing, and
[fellow surfer] Sally Fitzgibbons. You
have the women’s cricket teams, the
Matildas, the Hockeyroos, Diamonds,
Opals – we’re up there in the top five
in the world. We have some impressive
stats alongside the Aussie names.
These women are perfect role
models for kids, and that’s what you
want: you want inspiration, you want
positive advocates for healthy minds
and healthy bodies.
Even if you’re not a sports nut,
it’s fascinating to see how the
industry works. This is such a great
gig for me, I’m loving it. I’m in
sports heaven!

When season eight of Million
Dollar Listing New York
returns this month, fans will
be very happy indeed to see
a familiar face back in the
mix – as well as a new one
set to shake things up!
Luis D Ortiz (inset) – who quit
the show at the end of season five
to take a sabbatical in Paris – is back
onboard and ready to once again take
the NYC real estate scene by storm.
However, much has changed during
his absence, most notably a crash in the
market that will hit our favourite
realtors – who are joined by
new recruit Tyler Whitman
- right where it hurts most.
In an emotional season for
Ryan Serhant (pictured main,
far left, with Steve Gold and
Fredrik Eklund), he’s not only
feeling the pressure of unrelenting
clients, but a baby on the way causes
him to break down in spectacular style!
