(Steven Felgate) #1
nAdam blackmails Michael
to remove himself as Nick’s
legal counsel right before the
court date to decide custody
of Christian. Baldwin has no
choice but to lie to his client
that he must recuse himself
as Nick’s attorney due to a
conflict of interest.
“It’s pretty late in the
game to get hit with this,”
says Joshua Morrow
(Nick). “On top of that,
Nick and Michael have
history, both good and bad.
He considers Michael to be
a good friend and ally to the
Newmans, so for Michael
to just turn on a dime like
this, there’s something
definitely fishy here. Nick
can tell that Michael is
trying to placate him with
some legal jargon, but
Nick knows something’s
up. He doesn’t like it, but
at this point he can’t dwell
on it. He’s got to move
forward.”
Michael advises Nick
to ask for a continuance
so a new lawyer can get
up to speed, but Nick
declines. “This thing is
time-sensitive,” the actor
declares. “It’s not some-
thing to be dragged out
because the other side
could gain an advantage
with a delay. Nick knows
his case won’t improve
but he feels waiting will

only help the other side
obtain more ammo.”
In court, Nick represents
himself and he assuredly
explains to the judge why
he should retain custody of
Christian. However, when
the judge asks why Nick

lost custody to Victor,
Nick falters. “When the
judge pokes Nick a little
bit, of course, he predict-
ably loses his cool,” groans
Morrow. “Sometimes,
Nick can’t control his emo-
tions, both good and bad,

so he tends to flare up and
not act in the best way
that benefits him. Adam
knows that it doesn’t take
much to get Nick out of
his game.”
Brenda, Adam’s law-
yer, then receives an
emergency message on
her phone. After check-
ing it out, she informs the
judge that there’s some-
thing that he needs to see
right away. “Adam is
hanging on to this ace up
his sleeve and it’s about
to be revealed,” Morrow
teases. “How much of
an impact it will have on
either side is the big ques-
tion. Adam is capable of
dirty tricks, so Nick is
ready for it, but he has no
idea how bad it’s going to
look.”

HOWARD WISE/JPI

“Adam is
capable of
dirty tricks,
so Nick is
ready for it.”
