billion jump-scare-laden
horror games are added to
itch.io and Game Jolt, but
very few take you on a
journey (or at least one that doesn’t begin
and end in the same dim corridor). Built
on the shambling bones of the Half-Life 1

nossu reinvents the labyrinth as a
glitchy digital maze, patrolled by a
creature more terrifying than any
minotaur. As you explore this non-euclidean
labyrinth, with its eerily rippling walls and
clever one-way portals, you’ll come
face-to-mass-of-swirling-pixels with an
invisible creature that seems to be rending

ad Dream is all about clicking.
Being a point and click adventure
series, that might seem obvious,
but rarely is clicking on things as satisfying
as it is in these macabre games. You’ll use
the mouse to make bugs slither out of plant
potsand other gruesome actions. TS

game, and at all times a cinematically
minded experience clearly inspired by the
game it’s built upon. Many of the best
horrors combine genres like this, from
Dead Space to FEAR, so it’s great to have
another horror game that understands

A retro-styled horror that
puts you in the role of a
priest, with the power to
banish demons with his
trusty crucifix. Although
this looks like a C64 game,
it thankfully feels more
modern, with some
genuinely frightening
moments that go beyond
the game’s apparent

A stunning Doom 2 mod
that barely resembles the
game it’s built on, surely
due to magic or a pact with
Beelzebub or some other
higher demon. In this
ammo-scarce FPS where
the ‘s’ stands for shoveller,
you’ll spend a lot of time
battering hideous
monsters to death with
