EVERYTHING IS GOING TOBE OK

N

athalie Lawhead’s games
are like nothing else out
there: wiry, multimedia
experiences where
cuteness and harshness,
and comedy and darkness are not
considered mutually exclusive terms.
These are games that tackle big topics like
love and death with rawness and honesty,

CRYPT WORLDS

A

bizarre first-person adventure
that feels like a glitched-out PS1
game, or Ultima Underworld if it
had been corrupted by 100 malware
programs. It’s an incoherent,
overwhelmingly odd archaeology game
containing countless moments that will
make you laugh, think and scratch your
head, often simultaneously. TS

BLUES FOR

MITTAVINDA

B

lues for Mittavinda is one of the
slower, more restrained games
found in Jack King-Spooner’s
catalogue of unfiltered delights. It
transports you to a handsomely modelled,
claymation take on the old west. Take your
time exploring this one. TS

MUSCLE WORLD

Taking inspiration from
From Software’s King’s
Field series, Muscle World
nails those games’
dread-laden atmosphere.
However it’s not a
medieval RPG, but a
surreal survival horror
where you play as a
bodybuilder crawling
across the ceiling of a
cavernous dungeon. TS

SOMEWHERE

Techno-horror meets, well,
survival horror in this
third-person adventure set
in a void-like environment.
Don’t expect any clear
answers, as you explore
and battle ghostlike
enemies, but do expect to
stop every few minutes to
gawk at the game’s truly
alien world. TS

but where hyperactive rabbits stand in for
humans, and annoying cyberpets are
sometimes unleashed on your desktop.
Everything is Going to be OK is an
‘interactive zine’ – a collection of
minigames, where a bevy of cute
creatures struggle with the bad things that
existence doles out now and again. TS
