HOMEOPATH
The third largest medicinal branch in the country after
allopathy and ayurveda, Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine
and Surgery (BHMS) is a 5 1/2 years’ course, inclusive of
1-year mandatory internship. Students learn a holistic medi-
cal science that focuses upon the body’s natural self-healing
system. Homeopathic medicines come in the form of highly
diluted liquids given with sweet pills without any side effects.
The course starts with Anatomy, Histology, Embryology
and Homeopathic Medicine moving on to complex subjects
like pathology, parasitology, forensic medicine and surgery in
the later semesters. Homeo therapeutics is an essential sec-
tion that is taught with the help of homeopathic applications
in Gynaecology, Surgery and Medicine.
BHMS graduates can pursue specializations in Paediatrics
and Psychiatry or set up their own practice. They can also
work in pharmaceutical companies in the field of drug for-
mulation and drug safety.
