of 59.
Gerryhad manyinterests. He
loved art, music, sports, andthe great
outdoors. He collectedantique books
and Japaneseart.Heloved music from
classicaltocountrytoclassicrock.He
enjoyed crosscountryskiing,hiking,
running,golfing,juggling, and tending
the woodlands of his vacation homein
NH. He liked to challengehimselfwith
extreme adventures such as skydiving,
mountain and ice climbing.But above

year,heenlistedinthe armyand served
as amedic in theBattle of Okinawa,and
was later stationed in Korea. He mar-
ried hiscollege sweetheart Dorisin
1948,and forthe next 40 years, they
ranthe Siegel Shop,awomen’sapparel
store. Bernie and Doris were founding
membersofBethElTemple.
Upon his retirement,Berniecontin-
uedhis hobbies: gardening,roller-blad-
ing, golfing,and swimming daily; and
playingonrugs,inpools,and on streets
withhis grandchildren.Hecontinued
to follow his beloved Bostonsports
teams, but those took abackseatto
UConnwomen’s andmen’s basketball.
Bernie alsovolunteeredfor manyyears
as aLemon Lawarbitrator for theState
of Connecticut.Bernie maintainedan
extensive network of lifelongfriend-
shipsthatincludedhisfraternity
brothersfrom PhiEpsilon Pi,friendshe
and Doriscultivated throughout their
marriage,and for the pastseven years,
the friendshe madeatThe McAuley.
Above all, Berniewas appreciated for
his personal style,his senseofhumor,
and hisability to tell agoodjoke.

She was afantasticcook and lover of

of her heritage andalsoproudwhen

Citizenin2003 at aceremony in Fa-
neuil Hall MarketplaceinBoston. She
was adevotedand proud Nana to her
5grandchildren andloved spending
timeinPlymouth with the Pearce clan.
