It seemed obvious to choose a sampler quilt as one of the projects for this
drafting book. I wanted to offer a project that incorporated a variety of
block designs and opportunities for you to create a unique, individual quilt.
I chose eight different block designs, a variety of drafting categories, and, in
the end, six different block sizes. Instead of choosing my predictable (and
much loved) traditional setting, I arranged the blocks within a grid format
(refer to the Design Chapter on page 69 ) to give the quilt a more contempo-
