Pause, 167/8 ̋ × 18 ̋, designed, pieced, and machine quilted by the author.
My goal was to create a simple, minimal, quiet design. I chose a favorite block,
the Bear’s Paw. But rather than arrange it in my usual traditional, predict-
able style (not that there’s anything wrong with that!), I decided to step out
of my box just a little and make some changes. First, I removed the bars that
separate each paw in a traditional block, so I could use the paws individu-
ally. Then I added a smaller paw inside the larger one to add detail. Using a
Sawtooth Star block as a structure, I placed individual paws in its corners and
side triangles.
