ANd TIPS
- Use plenty of water and don’t
overload your brushes. - I never start a painting when I’m
moody, because it won’t work. - Always view your work from a
distance, side to side. A useful
trick is to take a cardboard tube;
close one eye; and view your
work through the tube ... you
may be amazed at how this
can assist your judgement. - Think before starting. Don’t
overwork your paintings.
Know when to stop. - I love full moonlight. Take
note of the moon shining on
things and highlighting them. - Visit art galleries to
increase your learning.
12 brush and a Number 4 brush were
used for the trees (and I also used my
Number 10 brush for the distant trees).
STEP FIVE
For the ground I used Light Green,
Yellow and Napthol Red Light.
I remembered to stand back and
critically view the work in progress.
For good results with Red and
Yellow, I work with watery washes
first – being careful not to overload.
FINAL STEP
After finishing the road, I highlighted
the trees and other elements.
Another critical look at the painting
indicated that a Royal Blue wash
(strong in colour) would help to
complete the desired effect. n
