Travel Tips

Weather Overview
Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world. It’s located in the
north of South America and has a coastline on the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific
Ocean. The country borders the Darien jungle to its west and the Amazon to its
east. Sitting just slightly north of the equator, it has an equal 12 hours of daylight
and darkness with minimal variation during the year.
The weather varies from region to region within the country. While there aren ́t any
official seasons, some months are drier or rainier than others. This is because much
of the country lies in mountainous terrain where the temperature variations depend
on the altitude. Also, the farther up the mountain you go, the more significant the
difference between daytime and night-time temperatures.
April, May, October, and November tend to have more rain in the mountains than
the rest of the year.

The daytime high temperatures reach 32C along the coast and cool down to
mid-20s F at night. With humidity hovering around 80%, these cities’ “real feel”
temperatures can be even hotter.
These coastal communities have significantly less rain than the mountains. There is
essentially no rain from December through April, and only September and October
are considered rainy months.
