New raw tools, features and commands are being developed all the time, and
Lightroom is constantly being improved. As such, you might find that a new tool or
command can help improve one of your old raws in the future. Similarly, it’s worth looking back
through your archives for old raws that might benefit from some of the recently introduced
features in Lightroom and Camera Raw, like the Texture slider or Range Masking adjustments.

For many, the main reason to shoot in raw is the greater dynamic range held in a raw
file. Not only does this give you more leeway for exposure correction, it also allows
you to selectively tease detail out of different areas of the print using tools like Camera Raw
or Lightroom’s Adjustment Brush. These kinds of selective adjustments can be impossible
to pull off on a JPEG, simply because the extra detail isn’t there.
