Asking someone their name

In order to ask someone’s name in Russian, you may use the verb
звать: Как вас зову�т? ‘What are you called?’ (lit. ‘How do they call
you?’) You reply: Меня� зову�т Пи�тер Грин ‘I am called Peter Green’.
Alternatively: Как ва�ша фами�лия/ва�ше и�мя/ва�ше о�тчество?
‘What is your surname/first name/patronymic?’ Моя� фами�лия Грин,
моё и�мя Пи�тер ‘My surname is Green, my first name is Peter’.
Ди�ма is the diminutive form of Дми�тpий and Tа�ня the diminutive
form of Татья�на. Such diminutives are very common in Russian.
