SOCIETY CONFERENCE

The Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF) organised the inaugural
“4 Healthy Academic Society” conference with the help of the European
University Sports Association (EUSA), academics, and other partners.
The conference that took
place in Porec, Croatia, from
8-9 of June, showcased a
significant step towards creating
a healthier and more active
academic environment that will
benefit the physical and mental
health of students, academics,
and professionals. Multiple
scientific talks and articles were
given, expertise was exchanged,
vital data was displayed, and
networks were strengthened.
This conference included expert
speakers from all over the world
who shared their perspectives
and research on the importance
of physical exercise and health
while addressing a broad range
of topics related to dual careers,
health, student physical activity,
and physical education at the
university level. It focused on
ways to promote healthier work
and study habits, as well as
strategies to improve the overall
well-being of the academic
community.
The conference also included
short presentations of
publications, projects, and
researchers, focusing on topics
such as the association between
sedentary behaviour and body
composition, enhancing physical
activity for elderly people, the
power of mindset and its role
in the well-being of student-
athletes, the impact of physical
activity on mental health, the
impact of smoking on the well-
being of students, as well as
nutrition and physical activities
of students with disabilities.
It was concluded with a
roundtable and panel discussion
of respected scientists dealing
with problems and potential
improvements associated with
the position of student-athletes
and drawing attention to the
impact of the quality of physical
education, extracurricular
sports activities, and academic
sports on a healthier academic
environment.
EUSA was represented at the
event by EUSA President, Adam
Roczek; 1st Vice President,
Haris Pavletic; EUSA Treasurer,
Professor Francis Cirianni and
EUSA Communications Officer
Hristina Hristova.
The conference was also
supported by the Enhancing
Sports Organisations and
Management (ESOM) project,
co-funded by the European
Union through the Erasmus+
Programme.
