NOTICE OF PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
AND PUBLIC HEARING ON ZONING ORDINANCE
TEXT AMENDMENTS

TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE
CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF EMMETT, CALHOUN COUNTY,
MICHIGAN, AND ALL OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Charter Township of Emmett
Planning Commission will hold a meeting on August 7, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in
the Charter Township of Emmett board meeting room located at 621 Cliff St.,
Battle Creek, Michigan that will include the following:


  1. Public hearing on proposed Zoning Ordinance text
    amendments in brief as follows:


Proposed amendment to the Township Zoning Ordinance,
Appendix A of the Township Code of Ordinances to: change
the terminology throughout from “Conditional Use Permits”
to Special Land Uses”; amend Article 10 sections to address
special land use authority, procedures, criteria for decisions,
conditions, compliance and revocation; amend Article 2A
sections regarding site plan review.


  1. Such other and further matters as may properly come before
    the Planning Commission.


Written comments will be received concerning the above matters by
the Charter Township of Emmett Planning/Zoning Administrator at 621 Cliff
Street Battle Creek, MI 49014 by mail or at any time during regular business
hours on regular business days until and including the day of the meeting, and
may further be submitted to the Planning Commission at the meeting.

The proposed text amendments and the Charter Township of Emmett
Zoning Ordinance/Map/Land Use Plan may be examined by contacting the
Charter Township of Emmett Planning/Zoning Administrator at the Township
Hall during regular business hours on regular business days maintained by the
Township offices from and after the publication of this Notice and until and
including the day of the meeting, and further may be examined at the meeting.

All interested persons are invited to be present at the aforesaid time
and place.
The Charter Township of Emmett will provide necessary reasonable
auxiliary aids and services at the meeting to individuals with disabilities, such
as signers for the hearing impaired and audiotapes of printed materials being
considered, upon three days’ advanced notice to the Township. Individuals
with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the
Township Planning/Zoning Administrator.

“African American Freedom School
Tour with Sojourner Truth at the
Helm” this Friday (July 19), dur-

tour around the city to specific sites
and locations dedicated to African

American history,” Rickman said.
