more of us than you realize,” said
Spencer to the community at large.
“I think we are everywhere and I
think people don’t even realize or
don’t think about it which means to
me that we are part of what makes
this community function an go
around and happen. And, it wouldn’t
work without us.”
The fact that Bagley participated
in the trivia contest, that the police
provided extra security and even led
the parade shows that the department
supports everyone in the community,
said Spencer.
“I think that that says we have
some really good allies in some
really good places,” she said. “And, I
think my perception of Chief Bagley
is that he is very genuine and that he
says what he means and he means
what he says.”
Yvette Gudger said she attended
with her Mom, Reo Gudger, and
friends to support their friend, Jimmy
Sims, also known as Sasha Banks.
DeAndre Wilson said they attended
the events to spend time with the
Gudgers and Brandon Shockley to
enjoy the parade and drag show.
“They’ve been in my life all my
life,” said Wilson of the Gudgers,
“they brought me out because they
love me.”
The Gudgers said their message to
the community is: “Love everybody,

stop the hate.”
The Saturday festival at Leila
Arboretum also included a drag
show, the Meijer Kid Zone, a petting
zoo and more.
