The Battle Creek Shamrocks and
the Battle Creek Merchants started
battling for the adult city league
baseball playoff championship this
past Monday in the opening game of
a best-of-three series at B.C.’s Bailey
Park.
The Shamrocks – with only one
loss on its record this summer – are
managed again this season by Kevin
Kemerling.
And the Merchants – last year’s
playoff champ – are again man-
aged by Jack McCulley, who is also
league commissioner and director.
This past Monday’s city league
playoff action involved two games
at Bailey Park’s Morrison Field. If
the Shamrocks or the Merchants
won two games on Monday, they’re
city champs. Or, if the teams split
Monday’s doubleheader, a third and
deciding 7-inning game was set for
Tuesday at Bailey Park’s Nichols
Field.
