“Back To School” sales for class-

room items and attire are now going

full blast at local and area businesses

in preparation for the 2024-25 school

year that will get underway in late

August.

But a few weeks before then – on

Monday, Aug. 12 – practices for

student-athletes participating in Fall

2024 sports will officially begin

for Michigan High School Athletic

Association-affiliated schools.

And then after the Aug. 12 date,

the following activities will be

allowed to play their first games,

matches and meets on the following

dates:

The first local varsity high school

football games for the Fall 2024

campaign will be played on either

Thursday, Aug. 29 or Friday, Aug.
