The Friends of the Bohm Theatre in
Albion have announced a new discount
program for both its movie screenings
and most live performances.
The program, made possible by
an investment from Ford Motor
Company, is the result of a recent

Business owners in Michigan have
a new way of ensuring that their busi-
nesses are successful, in compliance
with state laws and regulations, and
protected against business scams and
identity theft.
The Michigan Business Roadmap is
a new website in collaboration with
the Department of Licensing and
Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and the
Department of Labor and Economic
Opportunity (LEO).
This website will serve as a
straightforward resource for entrepre-
neurs and small business owners to
navigate many of the processes that
may seem overwhelming for business
owners in Michigan, according to a
recent press release from Lansing.
“When someone decides they want
to start a business, they are also
agreeing to ensure that they comply
with important regulations around
how businesses operate, including
employee rights and protections,”
said LEO Deputy Director of Labor
Sean Egan.
“To ensure business owners can
find, interpret, and access our many
resources, the Roadmap will ensure
clear entry points for different
requirements. This will help business-
es enhance workplace safety, avoid
violating critical laws and regulations
on hours worked, paying employees,
and ensure that injured worker pro-
tections are in place,” Egan added.
With both state departments
involved, the Roadmap will also
inform business owners of the various
agencies within LARA and LEO that
they may need to interact, register or
file something with on behalf of their
business.
In addition, the Roadmap provides a
list of known scams that may be tar-
geted at businesses, along with cyber-
security resources.
The Michigan Business Roadmap

survey conducted by Ford seeking
the public’s input on valued com-
munity assets in Albion, Battle Creek
and Marshall.
“The investment being made by the
Ford Motor Company in the beauti-
ful and historic Bohm Theatre is also
an investment in the community of
Albion and in Calhoun County,” said
Executive Director Shannon Aikins.
“Since its inception, the Bohm
Theatre has been an arts, culture and
education collective space in down-
town Albion, bringing together a
diverse range of cinematic and live
performance experiences.”
The new program will provide a
50 percent discount to individuals 60
and older, as well as to individuals
receiving benefits through Medicaid
and Bridge Card programs.
The Medicaid discount will only
be valid for the individual named on
the card; the Bridge Card program
will allow all members of the card-
holder’s immediate household to
be eligible for the discount, and the
discount is not valid for any show
produced by a third party or shows
denoted as a fundraiser.
The Ford Accessibility Discount
cannot be used with any other dis-
count or coupon.
According to Aikins, “This dis-
count will allow us to continue
offering increased accessibility
while dealing with the reality of
ever-increasing costs in operating our
95-year-old architectural treasure.”
The discount will begin immediately.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, “An
Awful Good Evening” will feature the
Chelsea House Orchestra, along with
special guests, the Screaming Goats.
Chelsea House Orchestra consists
of 30 young musicians from Chelsea
High School who perform at festivals
and events throughout the Midwest
and worldwide.
The orchestra’s Celtic with a
Kick! performance group plays a
lively Scottish and Irish repertoire
and Celtic renditions of American
folk songs, with a little Hungarian-
inspired music and rock ‘n’ roll
thrown in for fun, said Aikins.
The Ford Discount is not available
online or over the telephone, but can
be used when purchasing tickets at
the Bohm Theatre.
The theatre is open at 6:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, and at 2:30
p.m. on Sunday.
