Moises R.
Olsen, a beloved
husband, father,
grandfather and
friend, passed
away peacefully
on Saturday, July
27, 2024, in Battle
Creek, Michigan.
He was 55 years
old.
Moises was
born in San Juan,
Puerto Rico.
Moises was adopted at 6 weeks of age by
his beautiful mom, Sally Olsen. Sally dedi-
cated her life to caring for the orphans and
prisoners of Puerto Rico until her passing
in 2006. Moises followed in the footsteps
of his mom.
Born with an immense capacity for love
and kindness, Moises leaves behind his
cherished wife, Stacey Olsen, who was
his partner and confidante in life. Together,
they created a nurturing home for their
daughters, Alexa, Gabrielle, Madison and
Savannah, who will forever carry the lega-
cy of his unwavering support and affection.
Moises was also deeply proud of his
role as a grandfather. His grandchildren,
Emery and Milo, were the light of his life,
and he adored every moment spent with
them. Moises shared love and kindness
with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Stacey;
daughters Alexa, Gabrielle, Madison and
Savannah; adopted grandpa Paul Keenan,
and mother-in-law Judy Parlier, both of
whom held a special place in his heart.
Moises is also remembered fondly by his
brothers, Matthew and Mark Hames; and
his nieces and nephews, Sally, Payton,
Allen and Camden.
Moises was a man who touched
many lives with his warmth, generosity
and sense of humor. He was a pillar of
strength and a source of boundless love
for those fortunate enough to know him.
His memory will be cherished by all who
had the privilege of sharing in his life.
A memorial service to honor Moises’ life
will be held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation
Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, Battle
Creek, MI 49037 on Thursday, August 1,
- Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1
p.m., with the celebration service at 1:
p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that donations be made to the American
Heart Association in Moises’ memory,
reflecting his commitment to making the
world a better place.
Moises R. Olsen will be deeply missed,
but his spirit will forever remain in the
hearts of those he loved and who loved
him. May he rest in peace.

It is with great
sadness that the
family of Wayne
Raymond Paige
announce his
passing on
Sunday July 28,
2024, at home
in Bellevue,
Michigan, at the
age of 90.
Wayne was
born May 14,
1934, in Battle
Creek, Mich., the son of Walter and Lulu
(Wilson) Paige.
Wayne graduated from Hastings High
School in 1952. After finishing school,
he worked as a machinist apprentice at
Grand Trunk Railroad where he became
a highly skilled tool and die machinist. He
went on to work for Eaton’s and then for
Kellogg’s where he worked as a millwright
for 33 years, retiring in 1991.
Wayne married the love of his life, Joan
Tack, in 1952. They have been happily
married for 72 years. They resided for the
past 64 years in the beautiful home that
Wayne built.
He will be remembered for many things.
He could build, fix and design anything.
He re-stored a 1927 Paige car that he
enjoyed taking to car shows and parades.
He also built a motorized horseless car-
riage that his great-grandkids love driving
around.
He loved spending time at his property
in northern Michigan, riding motorcycles
on the trails, climbing hills in his Willy’s
jeep that he restored, sitting around the
campfire making hobo pies and spending
time with family.
Wayne was incredibly loyal and devoted
to the care of his family and enjoyed
weekly Sunday family dinners and having
the family over for the holidays. He loved
to joke around with the grandkids and
great-grandkids and enjoyed nothing more
than seeing those that he loved happy.
He was preceded in death by his par-
ents; brothers Richard, Robert, Kerwin
Paige; sister Fancheon Wheaton; and
sister-in-law Loeta Wood.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife,
Joan; sons Bill (Jennifer) Paige, Tom
Paige; daughter Gwendolyn Knapper;
grandchildren Jeff (Julie) Knapper,
Jennifer (Ron) Force; great-grandchildren
Brendan and Bailey Knapper, and Seth
Force; step-great-grandchildren Kelsey
Stedman and Brendon Trevorrow.
A private memorial service will be held
at a later date.

Phillip Byron
Sidnam, 76, of
Athens, Mich.,
and formerly
of Battle Creek
and Kalamazoo,
Mich., passed
away and went
to be with his
beloved wife,
Patricia, and his
personal savior,
Jesus Christ, on
Friday, July 26,
2024, peacefully in his sleep.
Phillip, known by most as Phil, was born
December 27, 1947, to Philo Sidnam and
Louise Sidnam (Childs) in Battle Creek,
Mich. He was the youngest of four chil-
dren. He graduated from Battle Creek
Central High School in 1966. After gradu-
ation, he enlisted in the United States
Navy and served two years in Vietnam.
He married the love of his life, Patricia
Ann Gray, on January 16, 1969, and was
married 52 years until her passing in 2021.
Phil raised Patricia’s five children as his
own.
Phil was employed by United Steel &
Wire company from 1969-1980 when the
company closed. He then was employed
by the Hi-Lex Corporation from 1982-2007.
During his employment at Hi-Lex, he had
19 years in a row perfect attendance. After
retirement, Phil then worked part-time at
the Kalamazoo Senior Center and also
helped his wife sell Avon for 25 years.
Phil was an avid sports fan, especially
when it came to golf, Michigan Wolverines,
the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons.
He loved to travel, play cards, golf and
watch his children/grandchildren play
sports. He loved music of all kinds, and
instilled music into all of his children’s
lives.
Phil had a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ and loved the Lord with
his whole heart. He’s belonged to
many Assembly of God churches in the
Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area, and
always did his part to serve the Lord.
Phil is survived by his brother Thomas
Sidnam (Noreen) of Battle Creek’ sons
Robert V. Hartung of Grand Rapids, Mark
S. Hartung of Athens, Mich.; daughters
Christine M. Isbell of Parma, Mich., Teresa
J. Hartung of Battle Creek, Mich., and
Melissa K. Keyes (Jim) of Battle Creek,
Mich. He also had 13 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews.
Phil was preceded in death by his father,
Philo Sidnam; mother Louise Sidnam
(Childs); wife Patricia Sidnam (Gray);
brother Burt Sidnam (Susie); and sister
Karen Adkins.
There will be a celebration of life for
Phil on September 14, 2024, at 1 p.m. at
Fort Custer Christian Assembly Church at
301 Custer Drive, Battle Creek, MI 49037.

Sheila
Jean (Sain)
Lancaster, 66,
of Battle Creek,
passed away
July 29, 2024, at
Bronson Battle
Creek. She was
born July 14,
1958, in White
Pine, Michigan,
the daughter of
Marvin Sain and
Beverly (Cook) Collins.
She came to Battle Creek in 1968 from
Wakefield, Michigan. She graduated from
Battle Creek Central High School in 1976.
Sheila previously worked as a nurse at
Leila Hospital then went on to work at
Tokai Rica, Duncan Aviation and Lifespan,
from which she retired in 2017.
Sheila loved her dogs, her M&M and
Precious Moments collection, doing
artwork and going to craft shows. She
enjoyed spending time with her (BFF), a
long-time friend, Gail Long. Sheila looked
forward to Friday night dinners with family
and making wonderful memories them.
Sheila was united in marriage on
January 19, 2008, to Rick Lancaster; he
survives.
Also surviving are her son, Brian
(Amanda) Rogers of Battle Creek; father
Marvin Sain of Battle Creek; brother Lloyd
(Sherry) Sain of Battle Creek; sister Sheryl
(Sain) Collins of Battle Creek; several
nieces and nephews, Joey Collins, Nikki
Collins, Kyle Sain, Amber Sain, several
cousins and eight grandchildren. Sheila
absolutely adored all of her grandchildren.
Sheila was preceded in death by her
mother, Beverly (Cook) Collins; and niece
Rachel (Sain) Shaver.
The family received friends Tuesday,
August 6, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at the
Richard A. Henry Funeral Home &
Cremation Services. Funeral service were
scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, August
7, 2024, at the funeral home, with Rev.
Tim Smothers officiating. Interment fol-
lowed the service at Fort Custer National
Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Sheila’s
