The Marshall Historical Society
will host the 59th Annual Home
Tour, “Every House Has a Story,”
from Sept. 6-8 in Marshall.
The tour will feature six private
homes, including one that was a
former schoolhouse and another that
was a township hall, according to a
press release from the group.
Others on the tour will be a
Catholic rectory, the Episcopal
Church, and a sneak peek at a farm-
house museum undergoing renova-
tion.
Additional events during the
weekend will include a concert at
Brooks Memorial Fountain, Art at
the Museum art fair, River District
Market, children’s activities, a pub
crawl, admission to several museums
The annual Marshall Home Tour will take place Sept. 6-8.

many homes and activities within
walking distance of downtown.

Kara Beer, the Battle Creek Area
Chamber of Commerce president
and CEO, has been designated as
a Certified Chamber Executive by
ACCE, the Association of Chamber
of Commerce Executives.
ACCE, an association based in
Alexandria, Va., has more than 1,
Chambers of Commerce and related
business and economic development
organizations as members, represent-
ing more than 9,000 professionals in
the industry, explained Tania Kohut,
marketing and communications man-
ager at ACCE.
The Certified Chamber Executive
program (CCE) assesses and tests
the applicant’s knowledge of core
Chamber management areas: man-
agement, planning and development,
membership, communications, and
revenue and operations.

Local Chamber leader earns elite certification
Beer is one of 10 Chamber profes-
sionals in the U.S. to earn the CCE
designation in 2024.
The designation is recognized as
the highest and most elite profes-
sional designation in the Chamber
profession.
“Kara Beer is an accomplished
professional with over 24 years of
experience in leading collaborative
change and innovation at the organi-
zational, institutional and community
levels,” Kohut said in a press release.
“Active on several local, state
and national professional boards
and committees, Beer’s vision and
leadership have been instrumental in
achieving the organization’s second,
third and fourth consecutive five-star
accreditations with the U.S. Chamber
of Commerce,” she added.
