“These men and women will
never be forgotten, as generation
after generation will see their names
inscribed on these granite stones,”
said Holmes. “Just in this last week,
we’ve added 13 more names and
more to follow.”
Two stone benches were also
donated by individuals whom Conant
said wish to remain anonymous, and
they have been placed in front of the
monument, on either side.
The work took about six weeks to
complete and just wrapped up the
week before the dedication ceremo-
ny, according to Conant.
A crowd of people filled the lawn
and sidewalk around the monument
for the ceremony on Saturday, and
Holmes said it was great to see so
many.
Later that evening, the VFW was
open to the public for karaoke.
