Recreation Department is asking
county residents to participate in a
brief survey aimed at shaping the
future of the county’s parks and trails
for the next five years.
This survey is a key component in
developing a comprehensive master
plan, which is essential for guiding
future projects and maintaining eligi-
bility for funding from the Michigan
Department of Natural Resources
(DNR), a county press release stated.
The feedback gathered will directly
impact the county’s five-year parks
and recreation master plan, which
will outline priorities for maintain-

One of the northeast-bound
lanes on Capital Avenue
Southwest, between Dickman
Road and Hamblin Avenue, will
be closed due to the continued
demolition of the former Graphic
Packaging building at 79 E.
Fountain St.
This closure is expected to
last three weeks and includes
the corresponding section of the
sidewalk, according to a City of
Battle Creek press release.
In earlier news, the city said a
section of Fountain Street will
be temporarily closed for the
remainder of 2024 during the
demolition.
The specific section of
Fountain Street impacted by this
temporary road closure is East
Fountain Street, to the east of
East Dickman Road.
This section of Fountain Street
will be closed to all traffic,
except for traffic to and from
CSE Morse, located at 17 Race
Court.
Crews expect the demolition of
the building to be completed by
Dec. 31, with the temporary road
closure ending then, too.
