The Harper Creek High School
boys and girls cross-country teams
each took third place at the Oct. 1 at
the second Interstate 8 Conference
meet of the season, held north of
Marshall at Cornwell’s Turkeyville.
Marshall won the boys race, and in
the girls race, Western and Marshall
Harper Creek CC teams finish 3rd at I-8 Conference meet

tied for first, but Western won the tie-
breaker to take the crown.
The Harper Creek boys team was
led by Dominic Lowrie, who fin-
ished second overall with a time of
15:37.1. He was followed by team-
mates Cooper Gardner, eighth place,
16:50.7; Christian Ayres, 10th, 17:36;
Owen Hunter, 19th, 18:33.1; Jordan
Lindauer, 24th, 19:03.9; Carson
Szarejko, 25th, 19:07.9; and Ryce
Ferrell, 26th, 19:10.2.
Pennfield High School had three
runners in the race, led by Hunter
Jenney, who finished 33rd with a
time of 19:44.6.
On the girls’ side, Julia Faber
led Harper Creek finsihsing sec-
ond overall with a time of 20:12.2.
She was followed by teammates
Rylee Zumer, sixth, 21:05.3; Layla
Silkworth, 11th, 21:41.2; Everlyn
Vanvalkenburg, 18th, 22:52; Sophia
Kline, 22nd, 23:26.9; Lauren Gandy,
28th, 25:19.3; and Amy Alday, 29th,
25:30.8.
The Pennfield girls team placed
fourth overall, led by Peyton Rhoades
who finished fourth with a time of
20:56.4.
Also placing in the top 20 was Ellie
Bowen who finished 19th with a time
of 23:02.8.
